Payton Kitchens

Brett Payton started knocking on doors in May 1991 — planing doors, fixing steps, building pergolas — before formally establishing his cabinetmaking business in Toowoomba later that year. Now operating from Wilsonton, the workshop indentures one apprentice annually, a rhythm that has produced repeat Queensland Training Awards wins. The emphasis is less on output than on how the work gets made.
